what makes teenagers so self conscious?

This topic is about teenagers view of themselves. This topic interest me because i have friends who think their ugly when their beautiful on the inside and out. I think when somebody talks about you their just jealous because theirs something special about you that they may want, people talk about me all the time but i keep my head up and ignore their comments.
